petals is a collection of paintings that shows women of color with flowers to highlight their natural beauty and strength. i chose flowers because they represent growth, softness, and resilience, and i see those same qualities in the women i painted. the flowers are not just decoration but a reflection of the woman beside them and how she can bloom in her own way. through this collection, i wanted to celebrate women of color and show that their beauty is powerful, important, and deserving of attention, just like the flowers that grow and stand out in nature.
